On Friday, July 5, 36 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2777 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Belarus and one – of Uzbekistan as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners have a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States. As well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, two – of Tajikistan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, seven – of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, one – of France, three – of Moldova, one – of Spain and four – of Uzbekistan.
