On Sunday, July 7, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2786 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport, the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkey and one - of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Russia, as he was not in possession of valid travel document. As well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

two citizens of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to one person

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Belarus without valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  one citizen of Russia, two – of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 3 citizens of Latvia, eight - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, five – of Moldova, three – of Romania and two – of Uzbekistan.
