On Saturday, July 8, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4588 persons have been stopped this year.

213 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 8, officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pededze Border Control Point 1 citizen of Russia, who presented to border guards forged Polish vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Pāternieki and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, two – of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kirgizstan and one – of China were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of China was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Batumi, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, and one citizen of Latvia, departing for Manchester, who was not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 citizens of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, six – of Lithuania, four – of Moldova, three – of Kirgizstan, one – of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Ukraine.
