On Monday, July 8, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2870 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country.
29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Dublin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document (a passport presented valid for less than 3 months); to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners have a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States. As well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, three - of Russia, two - of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa), one citizen of Philippines and one – of Georgia (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits) were detected at the „Riga” Airport and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries. Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Georgia and Moldova was not initiated. The citizen of Philippines was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the country was refused to one person
at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Russia without valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two citizens of Bangladesh.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, six - of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Serbia.
