On Tuesday, July 9, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2879 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 54 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Kazakhstan entered Latvia, who presented to border guards forged Kazakhstan driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged document. The forged documents were seized within the framework of criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia and one - of Arab Republic, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigners have a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States. As well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 14 foreigners

nine citizens of Russia, three - of Belarus, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Great Britain were detected at the „Riga” Airport, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the Terehova and Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa for the Schengen States). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two minor citizens was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Morocco.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Israel, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, four – of Moldova, two – of Romania, one – of Serbia, three – of Ukraine, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
