On Thursday, June 1, 55 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3660 persons have been stopped this year. 185 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 1, officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Silene, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to four citizens of Moldova and one – of America, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Georgia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Ukraine and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of China and one – of Kirgizstan were detected at the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizens of China was not initiated, the other person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have a notarized authorization from at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – twelve citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, three – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Greece, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Rumania, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
