On Saturday, June 10, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3858 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, seven persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 194 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 10, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Georgia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and two – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Four more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two citizens of Belarus.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Israel, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Turkey.
