On Wednesday, June 12, 25 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2342 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan, one – of Moldova and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a ban to entry and stay in the territory of the Schengen States; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, two – of Russia and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Israel and one – of India were detected at the Rig airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Israel was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Riga airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, as well as one minor Latvian citizen (female) departing for the United Arab Emirates, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons -  four citizens of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 13 citizens of Belarus, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Serbia.
