On Saturday, June 17, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3974 persons have been stopped this year. 194 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 17, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Four more citizens of Russia and two - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Ukraine was detected at the Silene Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime).

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – four citizens of Estonia and three – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, three – of Russia, three – of Estonia, three – of Israel, three – of Ukraine, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Lithuania and one – of Italy.
