On Monday, June 17, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2446 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 1 person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan entered Latvia, who presented to border guards forged Uzbekistan vehicle roadworthiness certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Riga airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. While at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and two – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to five citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia

at the Riga airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for United Kingdom without valid for travelling to United Kingdom documents, as well as one citizen of Latvia and one noncitizen of Latvia, who were not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  two citizens of Latvia, one – of Lithuania and one - of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, three – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Georgia, two – of Romania, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan.
