On Monday, June 19, 7 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4011 persons have been stopped this year. 194 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 19, officials of the State Border Guard detected 71 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

36 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Silene Border Control Point 1 citizen of Belarus, who presented to border guards forged Belarusian vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine and two - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Tajikistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – two citizens of Afghanistan, two – of Estonia, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 12 citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Azerbaijan.
