On Tuesday, June 20, 56 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4067 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, seven persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 201 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On June 20, officials of the State Border Guard detected 62 offenders at external borders and within the country.
34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia - entered Latvia from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia, two - of Ukraine and one – of Israel were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
four citizens of Great Britain and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Great Britain was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - one citizen of Finland, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, six – of Latvia, three – of Moldova, three – of Ukraine, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Georgia
and one – of Kirgizstan.
