On Thursday, June 22, 46 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4143 persons have been stopped this year. 201 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On June 22, officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.
25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Pededze, the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia, one – of Ukraine, one - of Moldova and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Georgia and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

two citizens of Georgia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability. Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Georgia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, as well as one citizen of Latvia departing for London without valid travel document (document invalid due to last name change), were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Estonia, two – of Latvia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Israel, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Serbia.
