On Friday, June 23, 11 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4154 persons have been stopped this year. 201 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On June 23, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country.
19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 wanted persons were detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia entered the country from London, who are wanted by the Police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania and one - of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, five – of Estonia, four – of Latvia, three – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine and one – of Kirgizstan.
