On Saturday, June 24, 6 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4160 persons have been stopped this year. 201 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 24, officials of the State Border Guard detected 62 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and

one – of Brazil, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

three citizens of Ukraine, two – of Great Britain, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Turkey were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Great Britain and one – of Azerbaijan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents were detected; as well as at the Pāternieki Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia leaving the country, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 citizens of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Kirgizstan, three – of Latvia, three – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Austria, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Norway, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
