On Wednesday, June 5, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2213 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 68 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

42 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, leaving the country, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 23 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 citizens of Moldova, two – of Ukraine and one – of Congo, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Georgia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Belarus were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Georgia was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Riga airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country for Montenegro, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  three citizens of Moldova, one – of India and one - of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four - of Moldova, three – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Mongolia and one – of Finland.
