On Tuesday, June 6, 3749 persons have been stopped this year from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus and 185 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 6, officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

33 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 3 foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Vientuļi Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian vehicle registration certificate, was detected. At the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian driving license was detected as well as at the Silene Border Control Point 1 citizen of Belarus, who presented to border guards forged Polish driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine and one -  of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia, one – of Belarus and one - of Israel were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons - one citizen of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Germany.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
