On Thursday, June 8, 32 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3793 persons have been stopped this year. 187 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On June 8, officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country.
28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizen of Russia and two - of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to five citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Georgia, one – of Belarus and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, five – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Slovakia, two – of Ukraine, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one – of Estonia.
