On Saturday, June 8, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2234 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country.
30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Poland leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the Riga airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 20 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to nine citizens of Moldova and one – of India, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay to three citizens of Russia, one – of Mongolia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

one citizen of Belarus and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Ukraine was not initiated. The citizen of Belarus was subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Moldova, one – of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Poland and one – of Spain.
