On Friday, June 9, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3815 persons have been stopped this year. 187 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On June 9, officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Vientuļi and Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan and one -  of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to three citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Georgia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for six persons - two citizens of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 32 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Kazakhstan, seven – of Belarus, four – of Serbia, four - of Uzbekistan, two – of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Belgium, one – of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – of Ireland.
