On Sunday, June 9, 4 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2238 persons have been stopped this year. 

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 62 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

39 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 26 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, seven – of Georgia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Belarus, one – of Mongolia and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to 5 citizens of Ukraine and three – of Moldova,  as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

four citizens of Moldova, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Georgia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Austria were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Kazakhstan was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Russia and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, three – of Sweden, two – of Serbia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia and one – of Kyrgyzstan.
