On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 49 offenders at external borders and within the country.
27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian vehicle registration certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Pededze, the Silene, the Grebņeva and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and two – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and two – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Three more citizens of Ukraine and three – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Kazakhstan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Moldova were detected at the Silene and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – four citizens of Azerbaijan, one of Estonia and one – of Great Britain.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, two – of Latvia, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Germany and one – of Uzbekistan.
