On Saturday, March 11, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Silene, the Vientuļi and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document as well as to two citizens of Moldova and two – o Belarus, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Ukraine and three - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

two citizens of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia: one - departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents and another minor citizen – for Sharm El-Sheikh, who did not have parents' notarized authority for the child's departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - three citizens of Lithuania, two – of Pakistan, one – of Estonia and one – of Israel.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – of Lithuania, two – of Serbia, one – of Latvia, one – of Romania, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Uzbekistan.
