On Monday, March 11, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 304 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 1 person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 2 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country.
32 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, while at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Moldova and three – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay, as well as to six citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one - of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point four citizens of Latvia, departing for Great Britain without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Nigeria, one - of Syria and one – of Egypt.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
