On Friday, March 14, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 254 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards forged Uzbekistan roadworthiness test certificates, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized.

  • 1 wanted Latvian citizen was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizen of Tajikistan, to two citizens of Russian and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Russian were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, three citizens of Latvia leaving Latvia for Great Britain, whose travel documents were not valid to travel to Great Britain, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – two citizens of India, one - of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Nigeria, one -of Uzbekistan and one – of Sweden.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Moldova, three – of Latvia, two - of Belarus, two – of Serbia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Bulgaria.
