On Friday, March 15, 42 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 402 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 2 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Moldova, who presented to border guards a forged Moldovan driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
four citizens of Moldova, one – of Belarus, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Great Britain without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - three citizens of Estonia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, one – of Latvia, one - of Armenia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia and one - of Uzbekistan.
