On Sunday, March 17, 55 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 496 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 2 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted citizen of Lattvia was detained
At the Port of Ventspils during a check of passenger lists one Latvian citizen, entered Latvia from Sweden, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 19 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one – of Tajikistan and one - of China, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries within 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Russia, to six – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Georgia, one – of Belarus and one – of Russian were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - two citizens of Lithuania, two – of India and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two - of Lithuania, two – of Serbia, one – of Russia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan, and one - of Germany.
