On Tuesday, March 18, 1 person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 255 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 6 trespassers were detected at external borders, including: entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners. At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one - of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one - of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – four citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of India, one – of Lithuania, one – of Pakistan and one – of Serbia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Moldova, four – of Russia, three - of Belarus, two - of Lithuania, two – of Serbia, two – of Ukraine and one - of Uzbekistan.
