On Thursday, March 2, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Kirgizstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. One more citizen of Ukraine, one – of Russia and – one of Belarus were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine, one - of Uzbekistan, one – of India and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of one citizen of India was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
