On Monday, March 20, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country.
31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted persons was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia arriving from Munich, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Silene, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kirgizstan as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 11 foreigners
five citizens of Indonesia, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Ukraine and one – of Russia were detected at the Vientuļi, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a citizen of Ukraine was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the Silene Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing from Latvia without valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - four citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Russia, two – of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Poland, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
