On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country.
23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted persons was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia arriving from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Seven more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Kirgizstan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, and the other Latvia citizen without valid travelling document (the document is not valid due to a change of surname), were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Belarus, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Moldova, one – of Poland, one – of Romania and one – of Uzbekistan.
