On Monday, March 24, 6 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 303 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Estonia, two - of Moldova, one – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Sweden and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan and one - of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia, who did not have a notarised authorisation from the other parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Afghanistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two - of Moldova, two – of Turkey, one – of Latvia, one – of USA, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
