On Monday, March 27, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

35 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Moldova, who presented to border guards forged Moldovan driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Istanbul, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 18 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Pededze, the Silene, the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia and two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to four citizens of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to three citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Kirgizstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Russia and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the two Russian citizens was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – four citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Estonia and one – of Belarus.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, one -

of Latvia, one – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Finland and one – of Ukraine.
