On Wednesday, March 27, 11 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 690 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 6 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country.
20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Kazakhstan entered Latvia with lorry and trailer, who presented to border guards forged Azerbaijan International Vehicle Insurance policies, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. While at the Port of Liepaja entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine (seafarer), as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen Member States in the previous 180 days. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner would not go ashore while the ship was docked in the Port of Liepaja; the other persons were returned to their countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Kirgizstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing from Latvia, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons - four citizens of Ukraine, two – of India, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two - of Uzbekistan, two – of Germany, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Serbia.
