On Thursday, March 28, 23 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 713 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 6 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country.
16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to six citizens of Ukraine due to security reasons. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner
could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Guatemala was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizens of Guatemala was not initiated.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing from Latvia, who was not in possession of the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons - one citizen of Russia and one – of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, six – of Kazakhstan, two – of Russia, two - of Lithuania, two – of Moldova and one - of Romania.
