On Sunday, March 30, State Border Guard officers prevented 26 people from illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian state border. In total, 345 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons seven people have been admitted this year.
In total, 31 offencers were detected at the external borders and within the country, and 12 border violators were detected at the external borders.
- One person with forged documents was detected
At the Grebņeva border control point, an Uzbek citizen was detected leaving Latvia by car, who presented forged Uzbek technical inspection certificates to the border guards. The person has been held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized as part of the administrative process.
- One wanted person detained
At the Grebņeva border control point, an Uzbek citizen was detected entering Latvia by car, who is wanted by the police. The man was detained and handed over to State Police officials.
- Entry into Latvia denied to four foreigners
At the Grebņeva and Terehova border checkpoints, entry into Latvia was denied to two Moldovan citizens because one did not have valid travel documents, while the other could not justify the purpose and circumstances of entry, and to two Russian citizens for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
- Violations of residence conditions were detected for one foreigner
At the Grebņeva border checkpoint, one Serbian citizen was detected who had violated the residence conditions (exceeded the visa-free period of residence) in the Schengen area countries. The person was held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one Indian citizen.
For violations in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials have held 18 persons administratively liable or prevented them from crossing the border – three citizens of Kazakhstan, three of Moldova, two of Serbia, two of Uzbekistan, one of Latvia, one of Russia, one of Lithuania, one of Estonia, one of Azerbaijan, one of Kyrgyzstan, one of Korea and one of Ukraine.
