On Saturday, March 4, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Vientuļi and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Ukraine and two - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Georgia and one - of Turkish were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the citizen of Turkish was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Georgia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Estonia, two – of Belarus, two – of Russia, two - of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – od Lithuania, one – of Moldova and one – Great Britain.
