On Tuesday, March 4, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 228 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 wanted persons were detained
when checking the lists of arriving passengers at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen entered from Great Britain, as well as one non-citizen of Latvia entered from Switzerland, who are wanted by the police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days. At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Belarus was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Syria and one – of Turkey.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three - of Latvia, two - of Moldova, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Poland and one – of Romania.
