On Friday, March 7, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 230 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person - citizen of Lithuania was detected

when checking passenger list at the Port of Ventspils, one citizen of Lithuania entered Latvia from Sweden by ferry, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Nigeria, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one - of Tajikistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female), who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – four citizens of Estonia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one -of Belarus, one – of India and one – of Iraq.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Kazakhstan, two - of Moldova, two – of Serbia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Mongolia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.
