On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kirgizstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Four more citizens of Ukraine and one - of Belarus were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Armenia were detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point five citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons - four citizen of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania and two – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, three – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
