On Monday, May 1, 90 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2146 persons have been stopped during this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, three persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 175 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 1, officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country.
31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Vientuļi and the Pededze Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Two more citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan, one - of Ukraine, one – of Korea and one – of Moldova were detected at the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Korea was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for East Midlands without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - three citizens of Estonia, two – of Lithuania and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, five – of Moldova, three – of Lithuania, three – of Kirgizstan, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Serbia.
