On Wednesday, May 10, 47 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2670 person have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 178 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 10, officials of the State Border Guard detected 66 offenders at external borders and within the country.
45 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Azerbaijan and one – of Turkey, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Seven more citizens of Israel, one – of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 14 foreigners
five citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Moldova, two – of Canada, two – of Georgia, and one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Terehova, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents as well as at the Silene Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing from the country without valid travel document were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan and two – of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan and one - of Moldova.
