On Friday, May 10, 12 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1704 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 9 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

At the Riga airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Bolivia, entered Latvia from Turkey, who presented to border guards a Spanish passport of another person, was detected. The person was subjected to administrative liability, the Spanish passport was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Ukraine and three - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Armenia and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kirgizstan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  two citizens of Russia, two – of Lithuania, one - of Estonia and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, five – of Uzbekistan, five – of Moldova, three – of Russia, one – of Georgia and one – of Ukraine.
