On Thursday, May 11, 52 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2722 person have been stopped this year. 177 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 11, officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country.
27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 wanted persons were detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered from Hamburg and at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered the country, both are wanted by the Police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners
at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Armenia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to four citizens of Georgia and one - of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and to three citizens of Ukraine and two - of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
two citizens of Turkey and one – of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Ukraine, three - of Belarus, two – of Kirgizstan, two - of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria and one – of Greece.
