On Saturday, May 11, 17 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1721 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 9 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 54 offenders at external borders and within the country.
14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, to one – of Belarus, one - of Ukraine and one – of India as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Russia and two - of Belarus were detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the Riga airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Montenegro without valid travel document, as well as one citizen of Latvia departing for Armenia, whose travel document is not valid for travel to Armenia, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons - four citizens of Estonia, two – of Finland, one - of Latvia and one – of India.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 32 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 16 citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan.
