On Saturday, May 13, 31 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2811 person have been stopped this year. 177 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 13, officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.
30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 17 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Vientuļi, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to seven citizens of Moldova and one - of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay, as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Kirgizstan were detected at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document as well as at the Silene Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia without valid travel document (the document has expired) were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Estonia and two – of Norway.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Kazakhstan, three - of Latvia, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia and one – of Kirgizstan.
