On Wednesday, May 22, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1991 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.
22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Ukraine entering Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the Riga airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document, to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner has a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova, one – of Belarus, one – of Georgia and three – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the Riga airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for Ireland without valid travel document, as well as one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for United Kingdom, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - one citizen of Russia, one - of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of India and one – of Sri Lanka.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 7 citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Germany, one – of Lithuania and one – of Georgia.
