On Thursday, May 23, 17 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2008 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country.
16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Belarus entering Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Belarus driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or entry permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, two – of Ukraine and four - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons - three citizen of Russia, three - of Ukraine, two - of Belarus, two – of Lithuania and one – of Latvia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 6 citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Italy, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
