On Thursday, May 25, 42 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3456 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, five persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 185 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On May 25, officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.
30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 19 foreigners
at the Silene, the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Uzbekistan and one - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to three citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Azerbaijan and two – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

one citizen of Belarus was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, one -departing for Manchester and another - for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five - of Latvia, four – of Latvia, three - of Moldova, one – of Israel and one – of Kirgizstan.
