On Saturday, May 25, 20 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2053 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 10 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 71 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Montenegro International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was was held administratively liable. The document was seized within the framework of the administrative offence proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 21 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a ban to entry the territory of the Schengen States; to 10 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens  of Belarus and one – of  Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or entry permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, one - of Russia and one - of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Tajikistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 21 persons -  ten citizens of Latvia, five - of Estonia, three - of Bangladesh, two – of Lithuania and one - of Algeria.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Moldova, three – of Lithuania, two – of Estonia, one – of Serbia, one – of Slovenia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
